Traditional fishing techniques in Assam, India , basically north - east (assam) tribes community have used the tool“polow” to catch fish. It is the assamese fishing tool, it's so offtenly use in flood time, because in this times so many fish travelling small and big pounds, its use mainly during the flood time. 'Polow' is local name of the traditional tool.

Among the many tribes of Northeast and Assam, this is a very popular fishing instrument called 'Powlo', which can be seen catching fish.  With the help of this tool, a person can catch fish in any beel (beel is local name of water fixed area ) pond etc. This is why it is easier to carry  it weighs less. This type of equipment is made of (wire bamboo, its local skill made bamboo wire) wire or a small plastic rope.  The upper bouts featured two cutaways, for easier access to the higher frets. The lower bouts featured two cutaways, for easier access to the higher frets. The lower bouts featured two cutaways,  A small round hole is made in the top of polow

and lower side is big hole . This type of equipment can catch all kinds of fish, big and small.  Although many types of improved fishing line equipment have been developed in recent times, the fishing tool is still used by the tribes and other peoples of Assam and North East region.  The tribes still use a variety of traditional tools to catch all the fish.  The traditional fishing equipment, called 'Polow, facilitates fishing in shallow waters.  This equipment can be used for fishing when the water depth is low  The average height of Powlo  equipment is 3 feet. Special skill need to fishing through the powlo equipment . Mass of people gedaring  more chance to catch fish through powlo. 

When a people came to catch fish by powlo their minds needs relax mind . Lots of time to catch fish through the tool, it very difficult to catch fish by single person. If crowd peoples gathered then its easy to catch. Tribes are enjoining the time when their catch fishes .In assam lots of noon tribes aslo uses the powlo equipment.
